nce upon a time, long ago, in a land far away, lived a young girl; a college student. She loved school, but decided to work instead of study for a living when she was about 22 years old. So she worked, and worked, and worked; life was full, she was busy, and she never dreamed of going back to school again. The end.
.....Okay, the land wasn't THAT far away; and it certainly wasn't THAT long ago! And just kidding, she DID dream of going back to school, but knew that it wasn't God's timing based on the fact that while she was trying to find a good college, her handsome prince waltzed into her life and stole her away. Funny how that worked out, huh? And you thought I was launching into a romantic fairy-tale story.
In a nutshell, Joel's and my pastor announced last month that in August, Grace College would be using our church as one of several campuses in the Detroit area. Our church happens to be located across the street and down just a block or two from our apartment. Naturally, the announcement got our attention.
Grace College is offering two courses of study here, beginning this fall: 1) Associates in Biblical Studies, or 2) GOAL (Grace Opportunity for Adult Learners) Degree Completion, which would result in a B.S. in Management. As of right now, our plan is for me to take the GOAL track, which technically starts in January, but because 60 previous credits are required for this course of study and I have 57, I may take some Bible classes in August to make up for the 3 credits lacking. This could all change, in which case I would opt for the Associates in Biblical Studies.
Aside from the fact that this is truly an ideal opportunity which we believe God placed right in front of us, this is also significantly helpful given that Joel and I are planning to be entrepreneurs overseas in the not-so-distant future. In addition, it will be so awesome to be able to partner with my husband in this way, given his MBA! It will be a whole new way to grow closer together and share ideas with each other.
I am so excited to learn new skills and see what God will do with them! For the foreseeable future, this is the plan, and we are both completely thrilled to embark on this new adventure together. Now, to dust off my backpack and remember where the School Supply aisle is located.....
Wheeeeeee!!!!! So excited for you!
