Pregnancy Update

Meet Winter Baby :)

I am not a fan of ultrasounds, but I love, love, LOVE getting to see my Winter Baby!  Some of you know that we had a threatened miscarriage at week twelve, but all is well and we are so grateful!  However, there was some concern as to the placenta, because it was showing a marginal previa; additionally, some of the complications I had post-birth with Ransom raised some questions about a possible Acreta, which is a condition where the placenta grows into the actual uterine muscle.
We had an appointment today with an OB at U of M Ann Arbor's Women's Hospital and are happy to say that the previa is no longer a concern and there is no sign of an Acreta! This is a huge answer to prayer.
It was quite the drive, and due to some unforeseen circumstances, we ended up rushing out the door without a thought for food.  About four hours later, we were famished.  I had a craving for a McDonald's Burger in all of it's unhealthy glory, and apparently Ransom did too; he started asking for "Cream-cream" (Ice cream) and fries, so we were all agreed.  I am a lover of the whole foods lifestyle, but sometimes, fast food is a necessity for us.  And today was one of those times!
A truly Happy Meal!
Ransom enjoyed his "Booger" and fries.  My mom, sister and I enjoyed some girl time (Plus my little buddy), and I may or may not have downed two quarter-pounders with cheese.  I can definitely tell that I'm coming to the end of the second trimester, my hunger-o-meter has spiked drastically and I did not care one bit about the unearthly amount of calories I consumed.  It was well worth it.  No regrets here!
Thanks so much to all of you who have been praying, it means so much to us!  Our newest little one is due to arrive sometime in December.  We will keep you all posted!

    1. Thanks! It was fascinating to see an ultrasound this far along, we only had the Week 20 one for Ransom. And I have to say, these two seem to share some pretty striking similarities lol! Thanks for letting me catch up with you at the party a couple weeks ago, it was SO GOOD to see you! I'm so excited for your new home and precious baby girl!!! :D

An Error of Comedies?

Playing ring-around-the-phone-queue has never made my top-10 list of favorite activities.  Recently however, it proved somewhat humorous. Which is good, because playing secretary for upwards of an hour makes me pretty cranky.  It takes a lot of grit to run a household some times, you know?     Taking little thought as to the security of our bikes, stashed haphazardly in the basement storage area, we supposed they were fine; and if they weren't, well, we live an apartment life and have little space in which to finagle our belongings.  We were well aware that there have been a string of thefts in this complex, but didn't pay much mind since we both have minimalist tendencies and I needed a new bike anyway.  Sure enough, they disappeared from the basement.  "Lucky us" , we figured.   "Free disposal service!"  And I just have to say, the mental image that emerged of some stealthy burgler riding away on a weather-beaten mountain bik...

Unplugged

My siblings, parents and I would load our luggage, kitchen sink  included, into the family van. We were excited to finally be on the road to visit Mom's side of the family in New York, which we did every so often. My Grammie has had a radio ever since I can remember, listening to it daily . The sound of the hymns and classical music would waft through the air like the scent of her freshly-baked cinnamon rolls, and I'm fairly certain the two would start waltzing. She has always been a huge role model for me, always thinking o f what kind things she could do for others, and hardly ever watch ing television but for the local evening news. He loves me.  ;)        Something Joel and I have been happily fascinated by lately is how much better our lives seem to be when we ignore most media. You may be wondering why we are back in the world of Facebook, and honestly, I think an explanation is in order. Although I believe absolute...

Birth Story

I don't know when it happened exactly, but recently Little Man has turned into this light sleeper that wakes up every time he falls asleep on someone and needs to be put down.  Now that he's finally down for a nap, I can find a few minutes to write.  I hope?! ....     Anyway, for those of you who are curious, here's how Ransom's birth story goes.  His due date was on April 13th, buuuuut this being my first pregnancy, we were expecting him to be plenty late.  So April 13th came and went, but real labor started that Saturday, the 16th.  Joel was convinced this was the real thing, but I wasn't.  Actually, hours of labor passed before I was convinced  our baby was really coming that night!     Joel was an incredible help, and we really had the best birth team ever.  Some of the things my midwife had me do surprised me.  She let me know early on that I COULD try to make myself as comfortable as possible through the...
